GA4 contractor in London, outside IR35
Marc Alexander is a London-based GA4 contractor: senior, hands-on GA4 and Google Tag Manager work for your team, engaged through his own limited company. No employer costs, no notice period, and someone who can do the work from the first day.
Why hire a GA4 contractor outside IR35.
No employer costs.
You pay an invoice from Metric Owl Limited. No employer's National Insurance, pension, holiday pay or benefits, and no VAT on top.
Senior from the first day.
10 years in digital analytics, most recently six months as lead analytics consultant at Halfords. No ramp-up, no training budget.
A clear end date.
The contract runs for an agreed period. No notice periods or redundancy, and it can be extended if the work needs it.
Work you can see.
Agreed deliverables, not hours in a seat: tracking built, tested and documented, so your team can carry it on.
How the work is set up.
Status follows how the work is actually done, so engagements are set up and run as a business supplying a service:
- A statement of work with defined deliverables, not open-ended tasks
- Marc decides how, when and where the work is done, within the agreed deadlines
- His own equipment and software
- Metric Owl Limited works for other clients alongside yours
- No line reports, staff benefits or appraisals
If your business is medium or large, you decide the status and issue a status determination statement. If it's small, Metric Owl Limited decides. This isn't tax advice.
What it costs.
- Contract day rate, £400 to £500 a day, for contracts of three months or more.
- Shorter, scoped projects are quoted from the day rate of £800 to £1,200 a day, or as a fixed price.
- Need someone to own your measurement and make data architecture decisions? That's the contract analytics lead role, from £800 a day.
Marc isn't VAT registered, so no VAT is added to these prices.
Straight answers.
Can you guarantee the contract is outside IR35?
No one can, in advance. Status depends on how the work is actually done, not on the contract's wording. What can be done is to set the engagement up the way an outside-IR35 business engagement works, and keep working that way.
Who decides the status?
If your business is medium or large, you do. You assess the engagement with reasonable care and issue a status determination statement with your reasons. If your business counts as small under the Companies Act tests, Metric Owl Limited decides.
What if your assessment says inside IR35?
The contract day rate is for engagements outside IR35. If your assessment comes out inside, say so before anything is signed.
Do you work through agencies?
Yes, through an agency or directly. Either way, the contract is with Metric Owl Limited.
Do you work on site in London?
Yes. Marc is based in London, so days on site there are easy to arrange. Elsewhere in the UK and further afield he works remotely, with visits where they help.
Is this tax advice?
No. It sets out how the work is set up and how the off-payroll rules divide the decision. Your own adviser should check your assessment.
Contracted as a business, for as long as the work needs.
