GA4 consultant for Australian businesses
Australia's privacy regulator has started ruling against websites over tracking pixels, and most GA4 setups still send revenue with GST included. Marc Alexander, a London GA4 consultant, sets up GA4 and Google Tag Manager so the data is right and the tracking stands up.
Where Australian setups go wrong.
- Revenue sent to GA4 with GST included, so sales and return on ad spend are overstated.
- Sales credited to Afterpay, Zip or PayPal instead of the campaign that brought the customer.
- Advertising pixels on pages about health or other sensitive topics, with no consent asked.
- Tracking explained only in the privacy policy, with no notice when visitors arrive.
- No simple way to opt out of retargeting, which the OAIC expects.
- The GA4 property or Google Ads account set to the wrong time zone.
What you get.
- A check of every tag: what it sends, to whom, and on which pages.
- A banner and notice that tell visitors about tracking when they arrive, with an opt-out that reaches your tags.
- Advertising pixels kept off sensitive pages, or held until the visitor agrees.
- Revenue sent without GST, with tax and shipping in their own fields.
- Payment providers added to GA4's unwanted referrals, so campaigns keep the credit.
- Consent Mode v2 for your UK and EU visitors, if you have them.
Working with a London consultant.
- Early mornings in London overlap with the end of the Australian working day.
- The mini audit is a written report, so it doesn't depend on shared hours.
- 10 years in digital analytics, including more than 50 international websites at Knight Frank.
What it costs.
- GA4 mini audit, from A$350: privacy, revenue and attribution checked along with the rest of your tracking.
- GA4 setup with Consent Mode v2, typically A$700 to A$1,200.
- Server-side GTM, from A$4,000: control over what leaves your site, before any vendor sees it.

Straight answers.
Does Australia have a cookie law?
Not a cookie law as such, but the Privacy Act applies to tracking. The privacy regulator, the OAIC, says identifiers and browsing data can be personal information, that a privacy policy alone isn't enough notice, and that sensitive information, such as health details, needs consent first. How does working across the time difference go?
London is 9 to 11 hours behind the east coast, depending on daylight saving. Early mornings in London overlap with the end of the Australian working day, and the mini audit is a written report, so most of the work doesn't depend on shared hours.
Do you work with Australian ecommerce platforms and payment options?
Yes, including Shopify, and payment options such as Afterpay, Zip and PayPal, which often break GA4 attribution at checkout if they aren't set up properly.
What currency are prices in?
The prices on this page are in Australian dollars.
