GA4 tracking monitoring

Tracking rarely breaks loudly. A site release, a checkout change or a plugin update stops purchases or leads being recorded, and nobody notices until the monthly report. Marc Alexander watches your key events and revenue every day.

What's watched.

  • Purchases and revenue: a day with none, a sudden fall, or a spike that suggests double counting.
  • Leads and other key events, such as form submissions, sign-ups and bookings.
  • Each measured against what's normal for your site, so a quiet Sunday isn't an alarm.

It watches the numbers, not every tag. Tag, consent and speed checks are part of an audit.

How it works.

  1. Check the baseline

Key events and revenue are checked first. Alerts on wrong numbers only watch the wrong numbers.

  2. Set the alerts

Alerts in GA4, and in BigQuery where your data is there, tuned to your site's normal pattern.

  3. Act on them

When one fires, Marc works out whether it's the business or the tracking, finds the cause and fixes it, or gives your developers the exact change.

What it costs.

  • Included in the monthly retainer, from £500 a month, alongside the other work the retainer covers.
  • Billed monthly, with 30 days' notice to cancel. No long-term contract.
  • Starting from scratch? The GA4 mini audit, from £175, checks the numbers are right first.

Straight answers.

Why not just use GA4's own alerts?

You can, and the monitoring uses them. What makes them work is choosing the right key events, setting thresholds that suit your site, and having someone who investigates when one fires rather than an email nobody reads.

Do we need BigQuery?

No. Alerts run in GA4. If your data is already exported to BigQuery, checks can run there too.

What if our tracking is already wrong?

Then alerts would only watch the wrong numbers. Monitoring starts with a check that key events and revenue are right, usually the GA4 mini audit.

Can we stop?

Yes. The retainer is billed monthly, with 30 days' notice to cancel.

Broken tracking costs the most in the weeks nobody notices.

What does your site fire before consent?

Paste a page address. The tracking checker shows what a first-time visitor triggers before agreeing to anything, ranked by how much it matters.
