Contract analytics lead and interim head of analytics
When nobody owns the whole picture, Marc Alexander steps in as your analytics lead: finding out what the tracking really does, deciding what to fix with your teams and partners, and handing it over documented.
What you get.
- One person who owns measurement, tagging and where the data goes
- A full audit of your tags and tracking, ranked by risk
- Short decision papers for leadership, product and technology
- Privacy and consent decisions made with your DPO and written down
- Specifications your developers and agencies can build against
- Server-side tagging and customer identity design, where you need them
- A handover naming an owner for every open decision
How it works.
Find and size
Stakeholder interviews, a full audit of tags and data, and a measurement plan. What's wrong, what it costs and who owns it.
Contain and design
Quick fixes that need no development, then the designs and specifications for the bigger work, agreed with each owner.
Assess and hand over
A check on what changed, the plans for work still in flight, and a handover your team can run with.
At Halfords this took six months across 14 workstreams. Read the Halfords case study.
What it costs.
- Day rate, typically £800 to £1,200 a day, agreed for the length of the contract.
- Monthly retainer, from £500 a month, for ongoing ownership after the main work.
- Not sure you need a lead yet? The GA4 mini audit, from £175, shows how deep the problems go.
Straight answers.
What does a contract analytics lead do?
Owns how your site measures customers, what it collects and where that data goes, for a fixed period. That means finding what's wrong, deciding what to fix first with the people who own each area, and making sure the work gets done and handed over.
How is this different from a project?
A project has a fixed scope and ends with a deliverable. A contract role covers the questions nobody has scoped yet: decisions that cross teams, partners who need a single brief, and privacy questions that need an owner.
How long does a contract usually run?
It's agreed at the start, with a clear exit. The Halfords role ran for six months, from finding and sizing the problems to a documented handover.
Can you work with our agencies and partners?
Yes. At Halfords, Marc worked across leadership, the data protection officer, product, technology, performance marketing and six outside partners, each with a clear brief.
Do you work on site?
Remotely across the UK and further afield, and on site in the UK where it helps.
What happens at the end?
A handover that sets out where every workstream stands, who owns each open decision, and the first actions for whoever takes it on.
A single owner, for long enough to fix it properly.

What does your site fire before consent?
Paste a page address. The tracking checker shows what a first-time visitor triggers before agreeing to anything, ranked by how much it matters.
