GA4 consultant for Canadian businesses

Quebec now has some of the strictest tracking rules in North America, and most GA4 setups still send revenue with sales tax included. Marc Alexander, a London GA4 consultant, sets up GA4 and Google Tag Manager so the data is right and the tracking follows the rules where your visitors are.

Where Canadian setups go wrong.

  • Analytics and advertising tags firing for Quebec visitors before they've turned tracking on.
  • One banner for the whole country, built for US rules.
  • Revenue sent to GA4 with GST, HST or PST included, so sales and return on ad spend are overstated.
  • English and French versions tracked as separate sites, or not told apart at all.
  • An opt-out from advertising that's described in the privacy policy but doesn't stop the tags.
  • Advertising pixels on pages about health, finances or other sensitive topics.

What you get.

  • A check of every tag: what it sends, to whom, and on which pages.
  • Consent set by province where needed, with tracking off by default for Quebec visitors.
  • Consent Mode v2 wired to your banner, and every choice tested.
  • Revenue sent without sales tax, with tax and shipping in their own fields.
  • English and French versions in one GA4 property, with language as a dimension.
  • Advertising pixels kept off sensitive pages, or held until the visitor agrees.

Working with a London consultant.

  • London afternoons overlap with mornings across Canada.
  • The mini audit is a written report, so it doesn't depend on shared hours.
  • 10 years in digital analytics, including more than 50 international websites at Knight Frank.

What it costs.

  • GA4 mini audit, from C$325: consent, revenue and attribution checked along with the rest of your tracking.
  • GA4 setup with Consent Mode v2, typically C$650 to C$1,100.
  • Server-side GTM, from C$3,700: control over what leaves your site, before any vendor sees it.

Prices are in Canadian dollars, for clients in Canada. UK clients pay in pounds sterling: see the pricing page.

Straight answers.

Do Canadian websites need cookie consent?

It depends on where your visitors are. Quebec's Law 25 requires tracking that can identify, locate or profile people to stay off until the visitor turns it on. Elsewhere, the federal privacy regulator's guidance accepts an opt-out for most advertising tracking, if visitors are told clearly, with a yes needed for sensitive information.

How does working across the time difference go?

London is 5 hours ahead of Toronto and 8 hours ahead of Vancouver for most of the year. London afternoons overlap with mornings across Canada, and the mini audit is a written report, so it doesn't depend on shared hours.

Can you track English and French versions of our site?

Yes. One GA4 property can report on both, with language as a dimension and the same events on each version.

What currency are prices in?

The prices on this page are in Canadian dollars, for clients in Canada. UK clients are quoted in pounds sterling.
